The Bridge to Biosciences

A bridge to a career in biotechnology or the health sciences

In one semester, the Bridge to Biosciences Program at City College of San Francisco will teach you the basic math, biology, chemistry, and laboratory skills needed for a career in biotechnology, biology and related areas such as nursing.  No previous training in science is required.

The Program is a learning community where students and teachers work together to help everyone succeed.  Instructors use innovative teaching methods, including contextualized teaching, learning communities, problem based-learning, and individual support to help students succeed.

Upon completion of the program, some students begin work; others continue studying in advanced biotechnology courses, or other bioscience fields at City College such as nursing.

Students in the Bridge to Bioscience program can complete the Biotechnology Lab Assistant Certificate by taking a few more courses.

Cost: Registration is free for residents of San Francsico, $46/unit for California residents.

What the students say:

Now working at a local research lab studying neuroscience and diseases of the brain

"I came to the Bridge to Biotech program at CCSF because I felt stuck in life, and was looking for a path toward a better future.

I feel extremely lucky to have been through the program and encourage anyone with an interest in science to try this program, because you don't know what's out there until you dive in."

Now working as an analytical lab technician

"In the beginning, I was worried because I lack a scientific background. But  I quickly gained interest in the sciences."
