I have served as the leader of Wells Helping PAWS club throughout Grade 11 and Grade 12. Wells Helping PAWS is a club with the goal of raising awareness about the welfare of cats and raising funds to contribute to the work of PAWS Bangkok working to support the stray cats and adoption program. There are many stray kids in Thailand needing vaccination and nursing care. Therefore, our club tries to resolve these problems by calling attention and holding fundraising events for donations. As I have been in this club since grade 9 and has a great love for cats, I signed up to become the leader and was grateful to take the opportunity. Throughout the school year 2022-2023 & 2023-2024, our club had meetings regularly on Monday lunch to discuss activities. As a leader, I had to lead meetings with other leaders and work with the members. We also had leaders meeting with our advisor Ms.Chawisa often during Thursday lunch.
To become the leader of a club, I had to be responsible and make efficient decisions for the club. In the beginning, it was new and challenging to come up with ideas and make decisions for the best choice. With the support of Ms.Chawisa and other leaders, I could continuously learn different skills and gain leadership. In the school year 2022-2023, our club had different activities including Sticker Design, Club Shirt Design, Fundraising Booths, Cat Food Drive, and Cat Cafe. One of the most memorable events was the Farmer's Market booth. The leaders led the meeting to decide the things to sell in the booths, made shifts for the members, and set up the booth. I was the leader of the events/activities group so I also worked to make the game with the members. One of the challenges we faced during the booth preparation was making cake pops. We made cake pops together with members but we had problems with decorating as the chocolates on the cake pops did not solidify well due to the hot weather. Despite the challenges, we tried our best to freeze some of the cake pops to decorate and finish the remaining ones later at home. Fortunately, the booth selling went well but we still had some leftovers. Through this experience, we learned that we have to estimate and prepare the right amount of food/goods and be considerate about the conditions of events.
In the school year 2023-2024, we continued to come up with different activities including desinging and selling of lanyards, Cat Matching games, Tote-bag workshop, Cat Quiz . Various experiences from the club helped me to gain leadership and learn the processes to lead the events. I wish to continue helping the stray kids by raising awarness and holding different activities for fundraising.
