For international day 2023, seniors prepared a dance performance together. As it is the last year for seniors to perform and enjoy international day, me and my friends took an initiative to do a dance performances with songs from different countries to make good memories and fulfill the aim of celebrating various cultures. We first asked seniors if they are interested in dancing and made a group to discuss. Working as a big group brought many challenges. Making decision of songs was the difficult part as people had different preferences of songs and dance. By considering different ideas and voting on the songs, we finalized the song list and proceeded on practicing the dance. The songs we have decided to dance included English, Japanese, Thai, and Indian songs: Left Right, Love Siren, Idol, Keep it Lowkey, and Kala Chasma. We learned dance choreography and changed some movements and taught each other the dance.
Dance room was our go to for the month of November. I was first worried about teaching the dance as some seniors haven't learned dance before and we had to match the movements well as a whole group. Despite my worries, many seniors followed the dance steps well and we could see the improvements of quality in dance in every practice. Through the dance practices, we could also become close as a class. I became close to some classmates who I've rarely talked before and built united feelings as a class. Thankfully, we performed the dance well on the International Day and got many positive comments from teachers and students. By many seniors participating, the dance stage looked full and people had a lot of fun. This could show the benefits of working collaboratively and I'm glad that we made a good memory as a class together! I'm sincerely grateful and proud of seniors who performed together.
