From October 8th to 9th, I attended Concordian MUN 2022 conference. This was my third MUN and the first MUN I attended after Covid-19 breakdown. I was allocated to DISEC (Disarmament and International Security Committee) and was the delegate of Russia. The topic that was discussed was the issue of "Addressing the weaponization of information in the age of globalization”. Because it was my first time in DISEC and taking part as Russia , I had to research a lot about the background of the committee and the country. The position paper we had to send to the chairs before the conference really helped me because I could research about my country's stance and the possible solutions to the issue. I could have some countries in mind to collaborate during the debate.
On the first day of conference, I was very nervous as it had been so long after I went to my second conference. We listened to the MUN 101 session and went to our room for the real start. I presented my position paper to the chairs and all the delegates. and we went to discussion. During the discussion, I could get close to delegates from other schools and learn more about MUN from them. Because my country was one of the powerful countries in the resolution team, the delegates encouraged me to be the co-submitter. I helped coming out with solutions but I was afraid to make for-speech. Unfortunately, I couldn't give my for-speech due to the time so I decided to speak more on the second day. Our resolution eventually passed. On the second day, I asked questions to the delegate from the other team and participated in the crisis session. The crisis session was that the delegates have to come up with solutions to a scenario given. It was a bit confusing but funny. I also sang in front of people during the talent show.
This MUN conference was a meaningful conference because I could learn about the global issues more deeply and get to know many people from other schools. I hope I can improve my public speaking skills and become mroe active in the next conference!
