From November 25th to 27th, I attended the 12th ServICE Conference at Berkely International School. The ServICE Conference is an event where students from different international schools in Thailand gather and inspire each other to take effective service action to benefit the community and environment. This was my first face-to-face ServICE Conference.
On the first day, I went to the BYB trip with the group I was assigned to. The place I went was 'The Man that Rescue Dogs'. It was a dog sanctuary in Thailand that houses 600 rescued dogs. At this place, I painted the areas where the dogs were staying to attract many visitors and people who pass this place so that they can pay attention to the issue of abandoned dogs. From listening to the founder of this organization, I could realized the serious issue of abandoned dogs. I believe that funding the organizations relating to this issue and spreading the awareness of abandoned dogs are important.
On the second and third day, I participated in 'How to Sessions' and listened to 'Key Note Speeches'. During the 'How to Sessions', I collaborated with students from other schools to discuss and make foods together. The speeches were inspirational and gave me many thoughts about service. The three day conference was an inspirational experience to recognize the ethics of actions and to engage with issues of global significance.
