From January 23rd to 24th 2021, I attended Youths for SDGs conference. Youths for SDGs is a two day conference for international high school students to come together and discuss global issues, problems and the solutions. The aim for the conference is to raise awareness of Sustainable Development Goals and how to achieve them. The conference was supposed to be held in KMIDS but due to Covid alert, the conference was completely online. In the beginning, I felt that the online conference is not favorable because it is much better to discuss and talk to people face to face. However the conference went well even though it was online. The main event for the conference was the Case Challenge, discussing about a world problem and coming up with a solution.
The topic for the Case Challenge presentation was 'Youth Unemployment in Thailand'. Due to widespread of COVID-19, problems of unemployment worsen in Thailand. To come with the solutions the participants had to make a presentation and I was in group with Franny and Risa. Because it was our first time attending the conference, preparing for the presentation was not easy. We had various ideas which made us hard to decide and argue what fits the best in the topic. To resolve the conflict we tried to understand each other's view and fix some issues. In the end, we came up with a solution and successfully submitted the presentation. Although we were not chosen for the top 3 groups, our goal was to finish the presentation and learn more through the conference and I achieved our goal. I would like to join next year's conference and I hope it would be a face-to-face conference!
