These summons can either be in the upward position that can easily be controlled or the downward position that is much more chaotic and almost impossible to control.
Loves horror movies and history.
Very protect of her little brother.
Has grown up with Ichigo, Chad, Orihime and Tatsuki.
Kyoko Misaka is a young high school student from Karakura Town. She uses her spiritual powers alongside her friends to protect her home from hollows and other spiritual threats.
CHILDHOOD
Kyoko grew up always being able to see the spirits of the dead. An ability she inherited from her psychic father, Isamu. He used his own psychic abilites to make a living reconnecting people with deceased loved ones or performing tarot readings. A profession her mother, June tried to follow him down with less success due to having no spiritual abilities at all. Still Isamu would support and encourage her.
Things soon changed when Kyoko was ten. Home alone with her father, Isamu one night - Kyoko wasn't prepared for what she'd see. The image of her father being attacked by an invisible force, a force that kills him. Officially it's ruled as the result of a gas explosion. It isn't until years later that Kyoko realizes it was a hollow that killed her father.
SUPPORTING THE FAMILY
It's the years after her father's death that Kyoko began to step up. Her mother still wished to follow in her father's footsteps, to follow her dreams. Oblivious to what her dreams are costing her children, Kyoko is pushed into caring for her young brother Yuba and eventually taking on handling the finances. Her mother's efforts to chase her dreams continues to turn into more losses than profits. This in turn forces Kyoko to take on part-time employment in highschool to keep food on the table and a roof over her head. Kyoko no longer has much time for her school friends, most of her time is taken up by work or study.
A HOLLOW ENCOUNTER
The finances continue to build, her mother's continued attempts at being a psychic leading to more and more losses. This leads Kyoko into conflict with her mother, as she hits her limit arguing with her. It's rare for Kyoko to raise her voice and get angry, but she has had enough of the strain. June is stubborn, refusing to give up her dreams as it's the only way to remain close to her father. Realizing she won't budge, Kyoko realizes she'll have to take on more hours at work. The increased working hours, studying and barely sleeping eventually catch up with her, resulting in a terrible fever than lands her in the hospital.
Whilst in this vulnerable state, a hollow tries to attack Kyoko during the night whilst she's recovering. Deciding to flee in her weaken state, Kyoko tries to led it away from her mother and brother. It's as she attempts to flee the hospital that she runs into Ichigo and Rukia, an Ichigo who is in his soul reaper form. A form Kyoko can clearly see, a little to Ichigo's surprise although he is aware of the fact she has been able to see spirits since she was a kid (much like himself). The two come to her aid, defeating the hollow. Now realizing she's too far from the hosptial, Ichigo takes Kyoko to Kurosaki Clinic to continue her recover. Her mother and brother soon follow to find her, with Kyoko and June having a heart-to-heart. June receives her wake up call, realizing what her actions have been doing to her family. Ichigo's father, Isshin offers a solution - offering June a job working as a secretary. She can still chase her dreams on the side, whilst also keeping a roof over her children's heads. She accepts, leading to Kyoko no longer having to shoulder the financial burdens.
THE POWER OF TAROT
Over time Kyoko comes to the realization that the memories of that night, the night Ichigo saved her wasn't some fever dream. She begins to see hollows once again and it's when Uryu summons them to Karakura, that Kyoko awakens her own spiritual powers. Powers that she uses to protect her brother, Yuba who now can see spirits and hollows as clearly as his sister. Realizing she's the only one that can protect her brother, Kyoko's abilities take shape. A tarot deck, that was once her father's, is something she always keeps on her - that deck becomes the source of her new abilities. Whilst the draw is random, Kyoko can summon different beings from each tarot dependent on the position and the card itself. She utlises their abilities to protect her brother, and comes to terms with the fact she now is certain of the truth about Ichigo and her own past with hollows.
THE SOUL SOCIETY & KARAKURA PROTECTOR
Kyoko joins Ichigo, Chad, Orihime, Uryu and Yoruichi in the quest to save Rukia from the Soul Society. She wishes to repay Rukia for saving her life and that of her family alongside Ichigo. Kyoko is able to hold her own in the Soul Society, utilizes her powers to fight and defend herself.
Upon rescuing Rukia, Kyoko returns home with her new powers - utilizing them for any threats that come to threaten her home, her friends or her family. She hopes to grow her powers and gain more control over her cards.
HUECO MUNDO & AIZEN'S DEFEAT
Alongside Ichigo, Chad and Uryu, Kyoko enters Hueco Mundo to save Orihime. It's here she unlocks more of her power, in particular the Death card (a powerful card with an almost deadly cost) - a power that causes her to see a woman with a striking resemblance to herself. After suffering injuries, Kyoko remains in Hueco Mundo to heal whilst Ichigo defeats Aizen.
In the months after when Ichigo loses his powers, Kyoko steps up to try and protect her home in his stead, and protect him too until he gets his powers back.
THOUSAND YEAR BLOOD WAR & MIRAI
Kyoko works alongside Ichigo, Chad, Orihime and Uryu to continue to protect their home. Much like them she is drawn into the Quincy and Soul Reaper conflict. A conflict that causes her to reveal the truth that she has learnt to her friends. In the months that have past, Kyoko has learnt the history of her cards and her family through her dreams. She learns that her father had the same power to wield the cards as she did (something both Isshin and Ryuken knew about as they were friends), as did each of her ancestors. The truth is Kyoko is a descend of a Soul Reaper, called Lilianna Mako - she faked her death to retire from the Soul Society after the Blood War, wanting to escape what they did, falling in love with a human and becoming one herself. But knowing her powers could be passed down to her child, Lilianna sealed her Zanpakuto in a Shikai state, a deck of tarot cards. A deck of cards that would be passed to down through the family to protect them, each wielder unaware until Kyoko. Lilianna in sealing the Zanpakuto, merged an echo of her soul with it, the two becoming one... the two becoming Mirai. Mirai, a Zanpakuto that is now wielded by Kyoko.
