This was my first mini figure ever painted. My friend took me along with him to a local board game shop. He loves all types of board games and wanted to purches a new one. While waiting for my friend, I wandered around and stumbled upon shelves and shelves of mini figures, but i was confused as to why all of them where plain. I asked my friend, and he said people who play dungeons and dragons paint them on their own, so that they can look like however you want. I absolutly fell in love with the idea of taking something so detailed and making it your own for just you and your friends to play with! After looking around at all the creatures and monsters, I picked the beholder. To me it was something that only needed few colors, but I could still make it pop and bring it to life. I decided to go with dark and muddy browns with red undertones for the main body. This gave the body a realistic and dirty look. For the teeth, I used a bone color that has yellowed and browned to represent the passing of time and how uncleanly this creature is. The eyes are painted a dark army green to give a slimy disgusting look that stands out from the brown but not too much it looks unnatural. The center of the eyes are a brighter yellow to look otherworldly, scary, and unsettling. Really wanted to bring the monster out. Overall i am extreamly happy with how my first mini figure turned out, and learning to paint something so small and detailed was a great exploration experience.
