This piece was made as a surprise for the principle of our school! It as his 50th birthday and as a celebrated the art club decided to create 50 small stipple pieces of our principal in high school. The medium used was a sharpie on clear acetate. We used a clear medium for the background so that we could put a black and white photo underneath and we could follow and compare values easily to make sure everything look correct and three dimensional. This piece taught me a lot about confidence in an art and applying it to other sections of my life. With sharpie being permanent marker, you have to think about where every single mark is going to be and how its going to impact the overall art. When starting with the dark values, they require more dots than I anticipated. Thus making me comfortable early on with the sharpie and making stand out small dots on the lighter values.
