In this piece I was tasked in making an observational painting with the overall theme expressing calmness and tranquility. Only three items where given color to create emphasis from the other objects. The medium used was watercolor as it was semi transparent and could give a smooth, gentle, light feeling to the piece as opposed to opaque and bold oil paints. Bleeding was a watercolor technique that allows me to blend layers seamlessly together, as well as create more muted color pallet. For outline of all objects, I used a sharpie for defined clean lines, but made everything a bit rounded for a softer feeling. I really enjoyed exploring watercolor and would love to use it more in the future! This piece was also displayed in the Holly Springs Cultural Center for others too see and ponder on.
