Victor Reader Stream

The Victor Reader Stream is one of Humanware's range of audio playing devices which includes the current and previous models of the Stream (with similar controls but different functionality), the Trek (which incorporates GPS features), the Stratus 12 and the Stratus 4 (larger sized audio players, one with a very simple collection of buttons and the other with more buttons and more options). The Victor Reader Stream information below is about the 1st and 2nd generation devices - some information is identical for both devices while others are specific to each device.

The Victor Reader Stream is an audio player with many more features. It is able to play DAISY formats supported: 2.0, 2.0.2, and ANSI/NISO Z39.86 2002/2005 (DAISY 3),audio formats: MP4-AAC, AMR-WB+, FLAC, MP3, Ogg Vorbis, Speex and WAV, play brf, txt, html, xml, DOCX and EPUB files using the text-to-speech Acapela engine and features a SD slot supporting up to 32GB SDHC cards.

The Victor Reader Stream also features the ability to connect to Wi-Fi to download materials, record your own notes and adjust the rate and pitch of the speech.

  • Access to audio materials such as audiobooks in various formats and downloaded materials via Wi-Fi.

  • The option to put text based files onto the Victor Reader Stream and listen to their content, including Word documents and PDF files.

  • The opportunity to record voice notes to refer back to in the future or to record an interview.

  • Use of bookmarks throughout the various media types, including adding voice notes into specific parts of audio files to refer back to later.

  • Students can listen to an audiobook version of a class text to ensure they are gaining access to the content of a lesson in real time.
