Windows

Windows is a series of operating systems developed by Microsoft. Each version of Windows includes a graphical user interface, with a desktop that allows users to view files and folders in windows. For the past two decades, Windows has been the most widely used operating system for personal computers PCs. Windows is the only operating system that works with JAWS screen Reader and as such is commonly used by blind screen reader users.

Classroom Applications

Windows is the basis for much of the computing work that is completed in schools. It is the backbone to which other software is installed. Knowledge of how Windows works, how to control Windows and the shortcuts that can be used to make Windows easier to operate all greatly benefit students who are blind or who have a vision impairment.
