Chainsaw Man Is The Most Anticipated Anime On MyAnimeList

MAL claims that their "Top Upcoming" anime lists are determined by how many users have added the anime to their [watch]list.

Although Chainsaw Man has yet to be released, a teaser clip that was streamed at Jump Festa indicated a 2022 broadcast date.

Ryu Nakayama directs Chainsaw Man at MAPPA. Hiroshi Seko is writing the scripts. Tatsuya Yoshihara and Kazutaka Sugyama are designing the characters.

Makoto Nakazono will be the chief technical director. Yusuke Takeda and Kiyotaka Okayama are responsible for designing the devils. Naomi Nakano is the color-key artist. Yohei Miyahara designs the screens. Kensuke Ushio composes the music.

Jump Festa also announced that the second half of Chainsaw Man Anime manga will be released in early Summer 2022 on Shonen Jump+

Chainsaw Man is a Japanese manga serie written and illustrated Tatsuki Yamamoto. It was published in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in December 2018, and its chapters were collected in 11 tankobon volumes.

This manga was nominated to the Manga Taisho Awards 2019 and is ranked #4 on the Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2020 (This Manga Is Amazing! guidebook's top manga for male readers. The manga was awarded the Best Shonen Manga award at the 66th Shogakukan Manga Awards, January.

The manga also topped the Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2021 list of male readers. Chainsaw Man also won The Harvey Awards in Oct. with the Best Manga award.

MAL describes the plot in the anime as follows:

Denji dreams of a simple life. He wants to be happy, peaceful, and spend time with the girl he loves. However, this is far from reality as Denji is forced to kill devils by the yakuza in order pay his huge debts. He uses his pet devil Pochita to fight for his money.

He is eventually out of use and is killed by a devil under contract with the yakuza. In an unexpected twist of events, Pochita merges his dead body with his own and gives him the power of a chainsaw devil. A revived Denji is now able to turn parts of his body into chainsaws and can use his new abilities to swiftly and brutally kill his enemies. He is offered a job at the Public Safety Bureau, where he meets the official devil hunters. Denji now has the tools to defeat even the most difficult of foes and will do anything to realize his teenage dreams.
