We have been learning about Jesus' family tree. The people on his tree at this point Include Adam and Eve, and continued with Seth, Noah and Shem, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Judah. 

At this point, God's people, the Israelites, are traveling to the Promised Land. We know that God keeps His promises, and He has promised to send a Savior.

In order to enter the Promised Land, God's people have to take over the city of Jericho. Two of God's people snuck Into the city to figure out what it was like, and a woman named Rahab saw them and decided to help them. She his them on the roof of her house so that the ruler of the land wouldn't find them.

Rahab hadn't grown up knowing about God, but as she got older, she heard about God and how powerful He was and how He saved His people from Egypt. Rahab put her trust in God, and God welcomed Rahab into His family. Rahab might not have started as part of God's family, but God loves all people and welcomes those who trust Him. Later, Rahab became part of Jesus' family tree when she married Salmon. Salmon was a far-off-grandchild of Judah. God loves people from every place and Jesus came to save all people who put their trust in Him.

We can remember that God keeps His promise to rescue people who trust Him.

Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love, with those who love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations... - Deuteronomy 7:9
