Jesus. So far, we have learned that the people in Jesus’ family line were Adam and Eve, Seth, Noah, and Shem.
The people were messy because of their sin. They didn't follow God perfectly, but God loves His people and Is faithful to them even though they sin. God made a big promise to send a rescuer that would save people from sin.
The next person on Jesus' family tree Is Abraham. His great, great, great (and many more greats) grandfather was Shem. When Abraham was grown, God told him to leave his hoem and go to a new land. Abraham didn't know exactly where he was going, but he loved God and trusted God.
When God called Abraham, he made him a lot of promises. One of those promises would be that he would be the father of a great nation and that all nations would be blessed through him.
At this point, Abraham and his wife Sarah were very old and they didn't have any children to start a great nation. God kept his promise and gave them a son named Isaac. Many, many years later, God kept an even bigger promise when he sent Jesus to love us and rescue us.
For the LORD is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations. Psalm 100:5
What does it mean that God would make Abraham the father of a great nation?
What does it mean for you that God's plan included people like us - not just from Abraham's family?
Pray and thank God that his rescue plan includes all people.
