God made a promise a long, long time ago to send a Savior to rescue His people from sin. That Savior is Jesus!
We have been following Jesus' family tree and can see God's faithfulness of His promise through many generations of messy people.
Through all of this, we can trust that God is reliable. Reliable means that someone can be trusted to do what they say they will do.
God had given His people a special land, the Promised Land, to live in. The Israelites followed God and trusted Him, and God helped them!
God sent special leaders called judges to help His people. They helped show God's people that God is reliable and that they could trust Him. But, God's people would soon forget to follow God and allow Him to be their king. They would get into trouble again, and would cry out to God again. Then God would help them again. This happened again and again.
God is reliable all the time. Even when His people were messy, even when they sinned, even when they forgot about Him, God never forgot His promise. God was still working out His plan to send a Savior. That plan would come through Ruth and Boaz, who had a son named Obed. And Obed had a son named Jesse. We don't know a lot about them except that God used them as part of His plan to continue the family line of Jesus.
God is reliable all the time. He is faithful to use and keeps his promises. This verse reminds us of that.
The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
-Lamentations 3:22-23
Practice Lamentations 3:22-23.
The verse says that God's mercies are new every morning. Mercy means that God is kind to us even though we sin.
Sin is anything we think, say, or do that doesn't please God. We can go to God when we sin and ask for forgiveness.
Pray and thank God for new mercies every morning.
