West Lebanon and Hanover Greenway (WaHG): a three mile path that brings the people of West Lebanon and Hanover together.
An improved crossing is needed at Dunster Dr and Wyeth Rd across S Main St.
A multi-use path along Reservoir by the Garipay Fields and Community Garden, connecting to the planned Girl Brook Shared Use Path and to the Ray School and Dartmouth Child Care Center
Safe Speeds in Etna will allow people to walk and bike more freely along and across Etna Road.
A clear view should be provided on the approach of all crosswalks.
Recommend daylighting North Main and Tuck Drive, and marking unmarked crosswalks at this well-used intersection.

Vertical delineators on Lebanon Street by “Sand Hill” made people riding and driving feel safer.

Community-driven accessibility tool for information on the accessibility of restaurants, public spaces, businesses, trails, and parking spaces.
Mapping crashes with people walking and biking throughout Hanover helps us identify problem areas.
SUCCESSFUL CAMPAIGNS
The Lyme Rd corridor is well-used by people walking and biking. HBW has identified safety concerns along Lyme Rd, between Park and Reservoir, particularly with regards to bicycling and bicycle markings, speed, and crossings. The northbound bike lane was widened!

The Lyme Road segment from Reservoir Road to Park Street was updated as part of Hanover's Complete Streets policy to include a wider northbound bike land, and clearing street markings prior to the Bike Lane Ends by the roundabout.
Can Oak Hill parking lot design increase access for people walking and bicycling?
SUCCESS!
Friends of Oak Hill and Dartmouth representatives want Oak Hill to be accessible to all users. They have added a 5 ft walking path to connect from the street to the Warming Hut.
HBW recommends maximizing green space, minimizing asphalt, safe streets for all and reducing car dependency.

Dartmouth reduced the size of the parking lot considerably, reducing the impermeable surface area, and reliance on cars for transportation.
Zero is our goal.

The Hanover Selectboard in a public hearing on June 26th, 2023 adopted “Vision Zero Hanover”, a statement committing to using preventative strategies to reach a goal of 0 fatalities and severe injuries!
25 miles/hour speed limits between the roundabouts on will improve Lyme Rd safety.

The Hanover Selectboard held a public hearing on September 11, 2023 and voted to lower the default speed limit between the roundabouts to 25 mph.
25 miles/hour speed limits town-wide unless otherwise posted will make Hanover safer.

The Hanover Selectboard held a public hearing June 20, 2022 and unanimously voted to adopt the HBW-proposed “25 MPH Unless Otherwise Posted” speed limit within the urban compact. Signs are posted at entrances to the urban compact.
Hanover Bike Walk recommended the entire West Wheelock corridor be posted at 25 MPH.

Finding room for people walking and bicycling can be tricky on a narrow road. Valley Road in Hanover became one of the first roads with advisory lanes, as a low cost way to create space for people walking and bicycling

The Lyme Road Multi-Use Path (sometimes called the MUP) The MUP was an outgrowth of the Safe Routes to School Travel plan. The construction of the Lyme Road MUP cost an extra $44,000 in conjunction with the road resurfacing.
