To understand bicycling in the Upper Valley we gather as much data as possible.
Below is a variety of data:
An in depth survey conducted by a Dartmouth graduate student that reached a few dozen people.
A more comprehensive research and survey data from a Toole Design consultant that reached over 240 people as part of the background research gathering for the Shared Streets Vision Plan, including some Strava data indicating where people who have Strava ride, and other trip data in Hanover. The Toole Design consultant indicated that while Strava data is gathered from a limited subset of riders, it tends to indicate where larger populations currently ride.
Local survey data from both studies is consistent with national and global research - that safe, comfortable infrastructure is a critical determinant as to whether people bike.
Data gathered about bicycling for the Walk Bike Plan.
