Slowing down saves lives and prevents severe injuries!
Short crossings, prominent markings, and time for people to cross, helps keep everyone safe!
Separated, protected shared use paths for people walking and bicycling invites active transportation and keeps people safe!
When designing for large volumes of people to come in and out of DHMC, it's important that the streetscapes are equitable, promote health, and serve our most vulnerable road users. Wide roads, high speeds and wide intersections make it complicated and dangerous to cross - and are also expensive to build! Designing roads and intersections that invite people to walk, bike and take transit to DHMC is critical for mental and physical health, and is the only sustainable and efficient way to provide high capacity modes of transportation that will accommodate large volumes of people within a short amount of time.
