Mixed raise
A mixed raise is a supporting bid that shows length in partner's suit and constructive values. It's stronger than a preemptive raise and weaker than a limit raise.
Conditions:
9+ trump fit;
6-9 points;
opponents showed at least 10 HCP.
Situations:
LHO opens the bidding;
partner makes an overcall 1♥ or 1♣;
RHO bid bellow 2 in the opener suit;
3 in the opener suit with jump as a mixed raise to 3M.
Examples:
(1m)-1M-(P)-3m (3 in the opener suit with jump)
General rules:
(1♦)-1♥-(P/1S/2C)-?
2♥ - single raise, 7-10 HCP, 3+ trumps;
3♥ - jump raise - preemptive, 3-7 HCP, 4+ trumps, no ace or king outside trumps;
4♥ - jump raise to game - usually 5+ trumps with distributional values and fewer than 9-10 points;
2♦ (or RHO suit) - cuebid, limit raise or better, 11+ HCP, 3+ trumps (recommended: the cheaper cuebid shows 3-card support and the higher cuebid promises 4+ card support);
3♦ - mixed raise, 7-10 HCP, 4+ trumps;
jump to 4♣ or 4♦ - splinter.
