What is Fall Polo? - The Fall season is our high school season. Our team is made up of a varsity training group and a JV training group. We will tell athletes which group they are in on the first day, but it is flexible for about the first couple of days of practice, which is our "tryout" period. All athletes must be water-safe to participate in the tryout period or beyond. During the tryout period, our varsity group will be cut down to about 14 players.
The most crucial elements we look at when evaluating our student-athletes are:
Attendance
Attitude
Ability
Training groups and game day rosters are flexible and we will adjust depending on the opponent or event. Our goal is always to maximize each athlete's playing time and development in both practices and games. Being in the varsity training group does not guarantee that an athlete will play varsity on game days. I try to categorize players into three tiers when making evaluations to project playing time- and they are projections based on what I have seen from an athlete so far in their career...those projections can change throughout a season :
Clearance: all athletes must be cleared to participate in athletics through Home Campus. This must happen before athlete can practice. Instructions can be found on the AGHS Athletics Page, or at this link.
Schedules: As many of you know, the sport of water polo tends to be consistently inconsistent as far as scheduling. I do my best to communicate the schedule promptly and accurately. Below I have outlines of general practice schedules, as well as our current game schedule. I also have the Google calendar below, which is the same one we used for summer. Each week, usually on Friday, I will send out a more detailed and up-to-date schedule for the upcoming week via email and Remind.
Remind and Hudl: Make sure you have joined the remind class "Boys Water Polo," (to join text the message "@agwpbwp" to the number 81010). Also, make sure you join Hudl (we use this program for game film):
Follow the link below to submit your details and join the team. You'll be accepted as soon as we've checked them.

Parent Involvement: Parents, we are going to need your help this year. We would like to continue to have a parent-run concession stand. This would help in getting a profit off the front gate and the food will not get eaten by the kids. I'll send out info for signing up for shifts when we get closer to the events.
Fundraising: We will be doing an online fundraiser this year. MORE INFO TO COME! This money helps pay for team gear, equipment costs, hotel fees, and other expenses for our program. If you have any concerns with paying the money please don’t hesitate to email me. Please make checks out to AGHS.
Suits: team suits are $50. Checks are made out to AGWP, and you can also pay online. We will be using the same suit from year to year- the turbo suit with the AGWP on the back and the AG Eagle on the front. If you need to get a suit, please fill out this form:

Standards and Expectations
Each student-athlete will conduct themselves with the utmost integrity and class both in and out of the pool and will respect all teammates, opponents, coaches, referees, and fans.
Each student-athlete must wear a team suit for games ($50) Click here for the team suit order form.
Make sure you are wearing team gear for all games.
On game days the team that plays first will set up the pool. The second team will clean up the pool.
All student-athletes must stay before or after their game to watch the other team play. Athletes will have to run the desk.
Athletes are expected to attend ALL practices and games and arrive on time.
Please arrange doctors, dentists, work, study sessions, and other appointments around practice and game times. You are all STUDENT-ATHLETES, and we expect you to do both at a high level.
All student-athletes must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 as outlined by CIF, but we encourage you to strive to maintain a 3.0 or better.
Missing a practice may cause an athlete not to start the next game or go in later than they would normally.
Always remember that you represent yourself, your team, your school, and your community at all times. Please demonstrate great character in the pool, out of the pool, and on social media, and keep in mind that ours is a very small town. As a student-athlete you will be held to a higher standard- whether it is fair or not, it is a fact. Embrace this, and strive to be a leader and an example in our community.
