Wood Workshop

The Wood workshop was established in 1997. In the beginning, we made simple items, learning and gaining experience along the way. Gradually, we acquired machines and necessary tools, which made the work process more efficient and allowed us to diversify our products. Today, we produce: Vegetable cutting boards Wooden spoons Beautifully painted wooden toys Puzzles Souvenirs Hangers Decorative boxes To ensure a successful work-therapy process, the daily routine follows a structured rhythm. Tasks are broken down into steps and assigned to group members based on their individual skills. Beneficiaries with more advanced motor skills take on the core tasks — using tools like files and sanders — while others focus on lighter supportive work. Each member actively participates in the therapeutic work process, and progress is clearly visible: their skills have improved, and their independence, confidence, and perseverance have grown. In our workshop, we also pay attention to daily life and self-care routines, not just work. We take tea breaks and make time for active rest, games, and developmental exercises. The items we create are mostly sold at fairs held at the Social Therapy House. Our products are in high demand because they are environmentally friendly, high-quality, beautiful, and practical. The workshop is run by one social therapist and five beneficiaries. It also hosts interns, schoolchildren, young people, volunteers, and others who are interested. Each year, young volunteers from Germany join us for a year-long social service. They are actively involved in all workshop activities. This cooperation is mutually enriching: the German volunteers bring youthful energy and multilingual communication — German, English, and Georgian — while we provide an environment rich in learning and culture. We introduce them to Georgia and its deep cultural heritage. The workshop continues to grow, and the group members and their families are happy to have such a vibrant and meaningful space. This is truly their second home.
