Candle Workshop
Established in 1998 at the Social Therapy House, our Candle Workshop has come a long way since its beginnings. In the early days, it took us months of repeated trials to refine the techniques for making various types of candles. If you don't fully understand the process yourself, it's impossible to guide beneficiaries in a way that supports both group success and individual growth. Candle making is a craft that must be broken down into small, manageable steps. At every stage, we observe what each participant is capable of, as only through close observation and analysis can we shape individualized paths for development. We also work strategically to help participants progress, while minimizing risks. Achievements and progress give them strength, build confidence, and foster independence. Many beneficiaries have โcome and goneโ through the Candle Workshop โ it has served as an introductory space for many and helped ease their transition into structured group activities. For years, our decorative and gift candles were a signature product of our organization. During the pandemic, we actively used online platforms to promote our work and received large orders. To this day, we collaborate with various networks, fulfilling both individual and corporate requests for custom-made gifts. Today, the workshop is home to two social therapists and seven beneficiaries. We also welcome university interns, school students, and volunteers for hands-on practice. The workshop is built on the principles of social therapy: Each person should have the opportunity to realize what they have received from their parents and teachers, to live with dignity, and to thrive in an environment where they can test, improve, and refine their skills. We take great pride in the progress weโve made since the early years. Our group members have grown into responsible and mature individuals โ full of joy, willing to help one another, and deeply connected to their community and organization. They look forward to each new day, filled with hope and fresh experiences.
