Sampha 2018

Treasure was written by British singer Sampha for the Original Motion Picture "Beautiful Boy" directed by Felix Van Groeningen and released in 2018. The film focuses on a father's journey as he attempts to save his son from the grips of drug-abuse. The song itself starts off slow with nothing more than a piano and soft vocals. Progressively, the piano intensifies, string instruments join, and heavenly background vocals swallow all silence. At a point, the song feels congested with noise, as if hitting the climax of action. However, Sampha doesn't fail to reassures us that after every storm there is a rainbow, and the song closes out as simple and controlled as it started.
