The Peacocks - Live

Bill Evans Trio, Stan Getz 1996

Seven minutes of beauty between the Bill Evans Trio and Stan Getz on saxophone.  There is something about the contrast and cohesion between the strength of the saxophone and the subdued piano that create a detailed and emotional scene. The way the instruments communicate with one another, like a conversation, allowing each other to speak, yet occasionally cutting the other off. It is a fight of sorts, but not one of ill-intent. They resolve their issue in time, and the song closes out with both instruments agreeing with one another, silencing themselves beautifully.

Genre: Jazz

Why I chose this song for this week

I own a few Bill Evans CD's and when I cook or just want to set a nice mood I play his music on our stereo system. The Peacock's is a collaboration song with another one of my favorite Jazz Musicians Stan Getz. Together the two produce such a beautiful and relaxing song, it is something that would be heard on the 24th floor of a 5 star hotel in the heart of New York. There are no words, and none are needed.
