After COVID-19 was declared a pandemic on March 12, 2020 and case numbers started to rise, hospitals began to run out of PPE. Our officers and club members decided that we should help out the medical staff, so we ordered 10 yards of fabric and got to work. After two rounds over the period of a couple months, our club ended up making around 250 masks! Our mission for the upcoming year is to aid hospitals, charities, and people in need during this pandemic. We plan to hold fundraisers, work with hospitals/charities, make health packages to distribute, and so much more with your help!
Education is the most powerful tool which belongs to all and can open gateways for millions! Many students in developing countries are now unable to attend school due to the pandemic. In order to do our part to help, we have set up a book drive affiliated with the African Library Project. The African Library Project is an organization that has built thousands of libraries throughout Africa and provided educational opportunities to millions of students. With the help of our community, we plan to raise 1,000 books to ship! Though we are a medical charity based club, we decided to take upon this project because it's important to help out in every way possible especially during these troubling times. We hope to do many more events like this to combat the effects of the pandemic and give back to our global community.
Our club meets every other Friday in J-5, the room highlighted on the image to the right. If you want to sign up to be notified about our meetings, you can click the Remind logo below, or text @avhsdamc to 81010.
