Borders

Site specific project: Borders

Location: Inner well, Space 52 gallery, Gibraltar

Kitchen Studios Collective exhibition

For this project I worked on both sides of the Gibraltar- Spain (La Linea de La Concepcion) boarder. I placed long rolls of paper on the path of commuters so they could interact and step or leave a mark with their shoe prints, pram wheels and scooter wheels.

The project plays with the idea of transit, memories and the daily struggle of commuters in the Gibraltar frontier. The images imprinted of the dust footprints will eventually disappear as the dust falls off. It is a homage to the individuals who go through the Gibraltar frontier every day . I videoed the people on site and then projected the images onto the sheets of paper at the gallery.

The roles of paper hanged inside the internal well of the building and onto the floor where people could add to the footprints during the duration of the exhibition.
