EXOENTITY:
The boundaries between body and mind have always been heavily delimited by what we thought our existence was. However, the idea of consciousness attached to flesh and bone is morphing into new shapes, releasing all kinds of questions about our identity and place in reality. The future is here and the body as we know it is losing its presence, replaced by artificial structures and coded information. A new humanity.
The work EXOENTITY presents the idea of a new state for humans, a forced evolution guided by technoscience and the ideals of the transhumanism movement. The body is replaced by pure information and the conscience evolves in a digital world, away from any corporeal limitations. This idea of a posthuman body is represented by a retro-futuristic robot floating in the middle of a heavenly place composed of cathedral-like rock structures, deserts and clouds. The silvery skin of the robot reflects AI generated organic substances, resembling its connection with the previous corporeal body and its obsolete vulnerability. The reflected AI generated flesh is just an echo of what our body used to be – malleable, perishable, unstable and deciduous- replaced during the process of human autoevolution.

My personal investigation as an artist is closely related to the body, the flesh and identity, focusing on the relationship between them and how it can be represented in the audiovisual field. Deeply interested in anatomy, anthropology and the virtual world, I like to create a dialogue between the viewer and the piece. Dialogue that takes place in an uncomfortable inflection point where the line between reality and fiction is blurred, framed by a sinister aura and usually presenting a nerve-wracking illusion that leads to a moment of disconnection. Disconnection that generates questions that sometimes have no answer. For this purpose, I use prosthetic makeup and the digital medium, taking advantage of its possibilities and changing nature in order to play with the corporeal identity and its vehicle: the body.
By modifying the body in an organic and virtual way (prosthetics and 3D), I seek to create the perfect visual experience. A moment where the viewer interacts with the concept in an immersive way, leaving reality behind and entering a new world where the normal operation of nature is disrupted by technology and the body is just a mutating concept.
