Funny Filters in Exchange for Data - Bruno Melo
“Funny Filters In Exchage For Data” (2020), as the title points out, is a work in Instagram filter format created by artist Brüno Melo. This filter is intended to tension social media tools with issues of digital privacy and surveillance capitalism. At the same time that it proposes a question about the collection of identity data from its users, this work still remains a filter, presenting an ironic tone that uses the Instagram tool itself to satirize. This work was part of Era of Weaknesses 2020 - Mostra Belas Artes (São Paulo/Brazil) and Die Digitale Dusseldorf (Germany).
