Technical data:
"[inside] breathe" combines a wearable biointerface; a machine learning model, which generates digital images from natural language descriptions; and virtual reality in head mounted display to provide an audiovisual immersive experience in which the user's breathing rhythm is synchronized with the immersive environment in order to produce audiovisual stimuli favorable to body-mind-spirit balance. The wearable interface is adjustable to different biotypes. The artwork was created in 2022.

The artwork "[inside] breathe" belongs to the “[inside] Project”, a larger number of artworks which had its production started in 2020, in the pandemic context. This Project has images of medical diagnostics as its essence. The interest in diagnostics imagery comes from the desire of accessing and exploring the human biology complexity from a poetic, esthetic and artistic perspective. Thus, each series of the “[inside] Project” explores a different diagnostic instrument which looks at a certain dimension of the inside human body. From this context, the artwork "[inside] breathe" deals with feelings experienced by isolation and claustrophobia, both in literal and metaphorical ways. Through the connection between the interactor's organism and artificial intelligence, [inside] breathe encourages reflection on all kinds of impotence experienced and felt by human beings in the face of life's inequities. Inequities that lead them to 'shortness of breath', physical and/or psychological, and that disturb their body-mind-spirit balance. At the same time, the artwork responds in real time to variations in the participant's breathing rhythm, with affective audiovisual stimuli, which materialize the presence of otherness and the empathy feeling, in a balanced relationship between 'looking at myself and at the other'.
