Next Episode: The Y1K Bug: February 21 - 22, 2026
When the Void descended, its destruction was indiscriminate, forcing people from across the Galaxy out of their homes. Some had years to prepare, while others had mere months. The results of those preparations are now known as the Exodus Fleets.
Hundreds of years after the great exodus began, the thousands of refugees have predominantly coalesced around what are now known as the five great exodus flagships. Each flagship is surrounded by its own fleet, comprising numerous small clusters of ships from various planets within a given region of the galaxy. Comprising diverse species, each fleet tends to have a higher representation of certain species, usually influenced by the home-world and history of the flagship. Nonetheless, all fleets share a common trajectory—away from the encroaching void.
The smallest of the Exodus Fleets, Luyten, is made up of a number of small factions that banded together in the outer rim. They were some of the first in the Milky Way to encounter the Void and suffered terrible losses for it. However, their suffering has bound them together, and today Fleet Luyten is known for using its smaller, more nimble stature to navigate not only the unknown reaches of the inter-galactic frontier but also inter-fleet politics. Being a thoroughly multicultural group, they are uniquely situated to aid in diplomacy between less friendly factions.

Once a mishmash of loosely aligned Terran diaspora, the Marauding fleet coalesced and subsumed other groups post Void Fall under the command of Captain Slagheart. They are now governed by a council with a representative from each founding faction; the Fleet enjoys significant political clout within the greater galactic community.
Flagship: The Cassiopeia

Primary Species: 58% Terran, 21% Lycophyta, 9% Uplift, ~7% Other
Starship naming conventions: Typically name their ships after Terran landmarks, both fictional and real, or important historical figures.
Comprising nearly the entirety of the old Alfar homeworld, Fleet Pleiades is the largest of the exodus fleets. Between being the oldest space-faring species in this portion of the galaxy and having the full backing of the primarily Alfar-held Galactic Council, the new Hegemony took on the responsibility of aiding many smaller planets and scattered colonies within the greater Alfar diaspora as a point of pride.
Flagship: The Pleiades
Population: ~200,000
Primary Species: 91% Alfar, 8% Synthetic, <1% Other
Starship naming conventions: Typically name their ships based on their functional purpose along with an alpha-numerical designation.
Originally the second flagship of the Alfar Hegemony, the Ophiuchus was tasked with aiding the evacuation of the Rixin homeworld. Followed shortly by a carefully maneuvered political takeover by the Rixin, the fleet was renamed ‘Sterilis’ after their adopted homeworld. Following their peaceful takeover, they promptly proceeded to their former homeworld of Terra and evacuated as many survivors and artifacts as possible, much to the disdain of the Hegemony.
Flagship: Sterilis (The Ophiuchus)
Population: ~130,000
Primary Species: 67% Rixin, 24% Terran, 8% Alfar, <1% Other
Starship naming conventions: Typically name their ships after precious stones with the captain's clan name as a prefix.
Fleet Zeta Andromeda traces its origin to the Andromeda galaxy approximately 765,000 Parsecs away, formed around an ancient cryo ship manned by Khu’nezdran synthetics tasked with preserving life from their galaxy. Over the centuries their data corrupted until only their very core mission remained, leading to many sentient species along their route being abducted and stored away in cryopods for, in some cases thousands of years. Ultimately some cryopods managed to activate a failsafe mode, thawing the ancient Khu’nezdra crew members and their unwitting guests in a new Epoc.
