Uplifted

While not a singular individual species, Uplifted are a diverse collection of mammals originating from Terra. Many of their ancestors were uplifted by Terran scientists utilizing reverse-engineered Alfar technology in an effort to save their species. Now, hundreds of years after the last uplifts were created in a lab, they have evolved into an independent emergent species. No longer created through complex genetic modification giving humanoid form and sentience, the majority of Uplifts are now born naturally into the universe. 

Uplifted, the most recently recognized and wholly divided race among those populating the galaxy, exhibit uniqueness among individuals. Whether made through different methods or born into different circumstances with distinct views on their own existence, their most identifiable trait is their diversity. The common core drive among Uplifted is the pursuit of understanding their existence and place in the universe. Some dedicate themselves to the uplift council that was formed in the wake of the VoidFall incident, viewing it as the reason for their creation. Others embrace their feral nature, fighting for survival or the survival of their packs. Yet more seek individual existence, pursuing self-interest and indulgence or hoping to unite with a community of similarly rootless individuals to build a culture and future of their own. They are often seen as dreamers, looking towards the future in hope or defiance, striving to make something truly their own.

While few and far between they are diverse and full of endless possibilities. Who knows where this species is headed? Not even they can answer that.

The Feral

Feral Uplifts embrace instinct and find understanding within the essence of who their ancestors were pre-sentience. Valuing basic needs over luxurious wants, they band together with scrappers and scavengers, prioritizing survival and the well-being of their pack or social group. Feral Uplifts tend to respect actions over deliberations, letting emotions and passions guide their judgments. They are perhaps the most spiteful subculture of the Uplifted, many of whom hold a grudge towards their creators as well as their more civilized 'kin'.
