The Hunt Valley Wind Ensemble (HVWE) was founded by Jenn Ambrosiano and Matthew T. Benner in 2016. HVWE is a program under the Cockeysville Recreation Council, which operates within the Baltimore County Recreation and Parks organization. The ensemble was created to provide an opportunity for adult and advanced student musicians in the community to continue making music in a fun, supportive, and engaging environment.
The group began with just 45 members and has grown to nearly 75, representing a wide range of ages and backgrounds. Members come from all walks of life and share a passion for music and community. HVWE performs a variety of wind band literature, including classical transcriptions, traditional marches, concert works, and film music. The ensemble presents multiple concerts each year and often participates in local community events.
HVWE also has affiliated groups, including a jazz ensemble, a woodwind quintet, and a flute choir.
