Every Community Band has some amateur players who could probably use a little guidance from a classically trained saxophonist. This clinic is designed to address some basic techniques that can immediately help the player and/or the director to improve the sound of the section.
Dawn Doubler Russo is a retired music educator. Her longest tenure was as Director of Bands at Randolph High School, Randolph, NJ. She directed the Wind Ensemble and Marching Rams, in addition to small ensembles.
Under her direction, the RHS Wind Ensemble performed at the NAfME Eastern Division Conference and performed a Prelude Concert with the New Jersey Wind Symphony. Her performing groups were selected to play at the NJ State Gala Concert for several years.
Mrs. Russo conducted the Region I Symphonic Band, North Jersey Area Symphonic Band and the 9th Grade Jr. Region Band. She has also presented clinics on Beginning Band at the prestigious Midwest Clinic in Chicago, IL, MENC (NAfME) Eastern Division Annual Conference, New Jersey Music Educators Association Annual Conference and local universities.
As a saxophonist Mrs. Russo has been a clinician for many saxophone clinics, maintained a private studio, and performed in many pit orchestras She has had the honor of performing nationally and internationally as a saxophonist with The New Jersey Wind Symphony and American Music Abroad and Delaware Symphonic Winds.
She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Western Illinois University and her Master of Education degree from William Paterson University.
