Robert Pouliot is Music Director Emeritus of The City of Fairfax Band Association (CFBA), serving as conductor of the City of Fairfax Band for 30 years. During his tenure, he transformed CFBA into a major performing arts organization comprising two full concert bands, multiple smaller ensembles, and a thriving youth division. Under his leadership, the band received the prestigious Sudler Silver Scroll from the John Philip Sousa Foundation, commissioned six original works, recorded five CDs, and performed across a wide range of venues including The Kennedy Center, Wolf Trap, and international ceremonies in Normandy, France.
The band was featured at multiple Association of Concert Bands (ACB) conventions, including hosting the 2002 convention, and has proudly represented its community on national and international stages. Prior to his CFBA leadership, he served as Executive Officer and Associate Conductor of The United States Air Force Band in Washington, D.C.
His honors include the National Band Association’s Citation of Excellence, the ACB Outstanding Conductor Award, and the Fairfax Commission on the Arts' John Mason Arts Achievement Award. A former ACB Board member, he is committed to helping bands develop strong organizational foundations and expand their impact within their communities and beyond.
