Proper Percussion Performance Practices will be demonstrated on a variety of instruments to aid non-percussionist band directors in getting the sound they want. Often band directors know what sound they are looking for, they’ve heard it on recordings and can hear it in their head but don’t have the verbiage to explain how to get it. This fast-paced session will give you the information needed to quickly communicate what you are looking for. Also covered will be tips and tricks you can use to amaze your percussionists.
Some of the topics will include:
“Can I have a (smooth) drum roll, please?”
A quick crash course on cymbals
4 ways to tap a tambourine (and why is it always late?)
Timpani Topics, Tuning et al…
Accessories, Auxiliaries and Toys
