July 2024
At the beginning of the month, we went through the Freedom Trail and saw many things, such as Paul Revere's House, the Bunker Hill Monument, and Faneuil Hall. A good portion of the Troop went, and we all walked for a few hours. near the end, we went to Faneuil Hall to get a snack and went home shortly after that.
As you probably know, This month, we had summer camp from the 14th until the 19th at JN Webster Scout Reservation CT. While we were there, we completed merit badges, raced war canoes, did a Paul Bunyan, listened to their AWESOME radio station, competed in an Iron Scout (which is an Iron Man, but it's for Boy Scouts), got up early to go polar bear swimming, and some scouts even camped outside for a merit badge. Every day there were Troop activities, and we all voted on which ones we would do. You will hear all about what we did at camp at the Court of Honor at our meeting on the 22nd, where all parents are invited.
(please wear your full Class A)Noah Stadinski's Eagle Scout project involved restoring the trails behind the town beach at Marion's camp to their original condition before they became overgrown. He added gravel to parts of the path that had become muddy and slippery and cleared brush from overgrown areas, notably around Princess Rock. You can now walk down the trail to the beach, which is located behind the pavilion to the right. Along the way, you will see some interesting foundations from when it was a scout reservation.
The Troop helped the Sutton Lions Club remove brush and debris from the trail behind the school, as it is seldom maintained. We also cut back branches overhanging the path and weed-whacked the intrusive plants that were blocking access to the path.
