Let UTS students explore the possibilities of creating art using plastic at home. We want to help them understand how plastic can be reused.
Is to deal with impromper plastic disposal and to address the ever-increasing amounts of plastic waste in the environment.
Increasing awareness about proper plastic disposal, encouraging students to turn plastic into art, and building appreciation about innovative ways of reusing plastic.
12: We plan to inform students on how to properly dispose of and use plastics with an engaging and fun way of turning plastic into art.
13: Our plan aims to reduce plastic waste and harmful plastics that end up in the environment or landfills by turning them into artwork within the UTS Community.
14 & 15: This project will reduce the amount of plastic that ends up in our ecosystems

Plastic will take hundreds or even thousands of years to break down, so the environmental damage is long-lasting.
Toxic chemicals leach out of plastic and are found in the blood and tissue of everyone
Exposure to plastic is linked to cancers, birth defects, impaired immunity, and other diseases.
Plastic trash is found in the guts of more than 90% of the world's sea birds
In the stomachs of more than 50% of the world's sea turtles
Chokes the life out of whales
By 2050, the mass of plastic in the world's oceans will exceed the mass of fish.
There are thousands of landfills in Canada. Beneath each one, toxic chemicals from plastics leak out and seep into groundwater, which flows downstream into lakes and rivers
Plastics that aren't recycled end up in landfills, is burned, or becomes litter
The financial cost of plastic is inestimatable: tourism, recreation, business, the health of humans, animals, fish and birds all suffer because of plastic pollution.
