How might we support the sustainability of the biosphere (plants and animals)?
Raise awareness about deforestation issues around the globe and encourage them to spread the word, as well as work towards a better future for our planet.
Is that it is everyone's responsibility to take care of our planet, as it is our only home. Especially the younger generation that are the faces of the future. We want to encourage our generation to accompany you and help build a better future for our planet; our home.
Distributing trees to the UTS community, so that students and staff can plant trees at their homes or near their homes.
Join us in the change-making! Let's work together to support sustainable development in this area.
Volunteer to take home seeds and saplings and grow them into beautiful trees, plants, and flowers!
At homecoming, we will distribute the trees to UTS students, staff, alumni, parents, and the whole of the UTS family who have signed up to adopt the trees.
Get a tree, it doesn't matter if it's by buying a tree, adopting one, or buying seeds. Plant the trees and we can start saving the world one tree at a time.
Below is some information about how this problem is manifesting in world, and some real-world examples.
Trees absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen. Oxygen is essential for human, animal, and plant life on Earth. Deforestation is hurting all life on Earth and we need to take initiative and stop it.
The main culprits for this issue are companies that choose to earn money over taking care of the planet. When they cut down trees and replace them with buildings and concrete, they simultaneously destroy thousands of animal and plant habitats.
95% of all deforestation in the world occurs in the tropics. Brazil and Indonesia have faced the most hardship because of deforestation. Over half of the 95% is made up of Brazil and Indonesia.
