We are trying to incentive companies such as Zara, Shein, and Urban Outfitters to adopt a more sustainable business model that is not revolved around fast fashion. We are also trying to inform the general UTS community because actions speak louder then words and if we can inform the community on the negative impacts of fast fashion, we hope to disincentivize fast fashion companies directly through loss of revenue because in the status quo, fast fashion is very lucrative for these companies.
We are trying to bring awareness to the problem of fast fashion and how it is affecting sustainability. The clothes they buy from that trend are usually hard to style again, since they’re more unique, which is why they became a trend in the first place, making the buyer not want it anymore and throw it out, or have it in the back of their closet for a long time. To work towards the goal of the SDGs we have to persuade clothing companies to rethink what they sell.
Our Campaign serves the UTS community by promoting a more sustainable and efficient way to wear clothes and by informing the broader community on what fast fashion is and why it is a bad thing.
Join us in the change-making! Let's work together to support sustainable development in this area.
We conducted a survey in the UTS community about how many clothes they have as well as their involvement in fast fashion.
A random winner was awarded a gift card!

We wrote a petition to try to incentive change in the fashion industry for it to move away from Fast Fashion and more to sustainable, durable, and reusable clothing.

We sent out a letter to major fashion companies such as Zara, Shein, and Urban Outfitters and tried to convince them to step away from fast fashion or at least make their clothing more reusable and durable.
Below is some information about how this problem is manifesting in world, and a real world example
Fast Fashion is very unsustainable as most clothing ends up in landfills(left). This piles up because repurposing ripped and dirty clothing is expensive and the resell price is relatively low. These is why we need to reduce the clothes we make in the first place and Fast Fashion is a massive hindrance as they make lots of low quality clothes that end up in landfills just a couple weeks or months after production.
