Emil Q. Javier

Emil Q. Javier (1940 - ) was the President of the University of the Philippines from 1993 to 1999 after serving as Chancellor for UP Los Baños from 1979 to 1985. He is a well-respected expert in tropical agriculture with decades-long contributions in research and agricultural development in the country. In 2019, when he was named as one of the National Scientists of the Philippines, for his leadership and countless efforts dedicated to the development of high-yielding and disease-resistant crop varieties in the country.
