Only students who have confirmed their enrollment will be able to begin the next steps to register for orientation. Confirmed students can visit checklist.umn.edu to begin the orientation process and select and an orientation date over the summer
Send in all transcripts, test scores, and the necessary documentation to the Office of Admissions, not the Carlson School of Management. This includes high school transcripts, college transcripts, AP exam scores, etc.
All orientation programming will be held virtually this summer. In March, once you have confirmed your enrollment, you will receive information about completing your New Student Checklist and selecting an Orientation date. Orientation has three parts:
1. Orientation Prep Course via Canvas. The goal of the Canvas course is to provide you with valuable information about University resources and services and prepare you for Orientation.
2. Scheduled Orientation Date via Zoom. On this day, you will meet with an Orientation Leader with other students from your college of enrollment, and your academic advisor and register for Fall 2021 courses.
3. Friday Gopher Session On the Friday of your Orientation week you will have an opportunity to engage with campus resources and continue interacting with Orientation Leaders.
Use a device (computer, laptop, or tablet) that has audio functionality. Although not required, we recommend using broadband, high-speed internet for best results. Online orientation is best viewed using Chrome, Firefox, or Safari.
If you don’t have access to a computer/laptop/tablet, microphone, reliable internet access, and/or webcam, please contact the Orientation & Transition Experiences team at orientation@umn.edu.
While we greatly appreciate the level of interest and proactive approach, we ask that students do not contact our academic advisors prior to completing orientation. Students will be able to connect with their assigned academic advisor on their scheduled virtual orientation day. If there are still questions about your fall courses schedule after your scheduled orientation day, our advisors will be available for follow-up meetings in the summer.
Find more information from Orientation & Transfer Experiences:
Yes! Students may take courses at another institution the summer prior to their term of enrollment. Students can check transferology to ensure that courses and credits are transferable to the University of Minnesota Twin Cities.
We understand the upheaval you may have experienced over the last academic year and previous spring, and we will be accepting pass/fail grades. Rest assured that academic advisors will be expecting some different grading patterns and will work with you for the right level of coursework this fall.
The Undergraduate Program does not have a preference. Students use Apple or PC products successfully in our classes, so whatever you prefer or are most comfortable with will be a fine option.
Carlson School students generally declare their major during the semester they are completing the Immersion Core (I-Core).
Questions about financial aid should be directed to One Stop Student Services.
Incoming students can expect to receive their final financial aid award letter in late July. Students will receive the final disbursement into their account a week prior to the beginning of the semester. Please see the timeline on One Stop Student Services.
