Mission: The University of Minnesota Undergraduate Consulting Club (UCC) provides students opportunities to share, learn, and meet with others passionate about consulting. Here at UCC, we offer services to help students learn and develop their interviewing and professional skills, while also providing company sponsors the opportunity to connect with motivated students looking to join the world of consulting.
Meetings: We have multiple types of meetings. We host globally leading consulting firms presenting information panels, case walk throughs, and networking with consultants type of meetings. We also hold internal events where we have professional development for resumes, and more! With more funding, we would love to host more opportunities for members to attend case competitions and to fund more internal meetings.
Highlights:
We are open to all students from all majors and backgrounds.
We have long standing partnerships with the most prestigious Consulting firms in the globe, and offer the opportunity for students to come learn and network with these firms.
We almost always have free food!

Mission: The Value Investing Club at the University of Minnesota is a student organization dedicated to connecting students who are passionate about learning and applying fundamentals-based value investing principles as practiced by influential investors including Joel Greenblatt, Seth Klarman, Howard Marks, Charlie Munger, Benjamin Graham, Warren Buffett, and many more. Value@UMN seeks to create a group of individuals who are genuinely interested in value investing and are actively engaged in networking, teaching, and learning with each other.
Please note that this club is focused specifically on the value investing strategy. You may wish to consider joining a more general UMN investment club, or ones that are dedicated to other topics
Meetings: Value investing (and this club) is for everyone—you do not have to be majoring in finance or working in asset management to practice value investing principles. However, given that value investing is only a small niche in the broader investing landscape, we expect to have a small, yet dedicated membership.
Joining Value@UMN will be a worthwhile experience if members are actively engaged in every way possible. This not only includes showing up to meetings, but also contributing to discussion, adding content to the member resource drive, researching and providing opinions for investment opportunities we evaluate as a group, voting on club decisions, and whatever other requirements as set by the group. Additionally, members will be involved in running the organization: creating membership requirements, setting meeting times, choosing which topics to pursue, etc.
As mentioned, members will be added to a Google Drive containing resources contributed by current and former members in addition to the club’s Slack channel. The primary source of value for members of Value@UMN is the ability to share ideas with other investors at meetings and social events.
Highlights:
Every member is expected to contribute to every meeting, with each person taking the role of teacher and student.
Our application process may be found on GopherLink, and it includes a recommended reading list for prior to applying.
Every year in May we attend the Berkshire Hathaway Annual Meeting in Omaha.

Mission: 180 Degrees Consulting is the world's largest student-driven consultancy that provides services for non-profits, social enterprises, and socially-minded companies. Our aim is to provide our consultants with the unique experience of collaborating with a wide range of organizations while providing high-quality work for our clients.
Meetings: As a consultant at 180 DC, students will receive professional training and gain real consulting experience by working on a consulting project with the guidance of an experienced student team lead and managing partner. They will have the opportunity to network with other upcoming consultants at the University of Minnesota and professional consultant mentors. Our consultants spend about 10 hours of work outside of club meetings working on their group projects.
Highlights:
1. We pride ourselves on student development and making sure we create a positive learning environment.
2. We aim to complete 3 business projects per semester, involving all members so there is an equal learning opportunity for all.
3. In the future, we look to expand on the number of projects we complete per semester. This opens up the opportunity of completing wider ranges of projects across many different business backgrounds.
