The 2026 Carlson Undergraduate Commencement ceremony will occur on Monday, May 18, 2026 at 3M Arena at Mariucci. Graduates can expect to receive a formal invitation and further details about the ceremony in March, sent to their UMN email.
Yes! All Fall 2025 graduates will automatically be invited to the 2026 commencement ceremony. A formal invitation will be sent electronically in the spring to the UMN email addresses of all Fall 2025, Spring 2026, Summer 2026 and Fall 2026 grads.
Yes! All students expected to graduate in either Summer 2026 or Fall 2026 will automatically be invited to the 2026 commencement ceremony. A formal invitation will be sent electronically to the UMN email addresses of all Fall 2025, Spring 2026, Summer 2026 and Fall 2026 grads.
Fall 2026 graduates can opt into attending the Spring 2026 commencement ceremony, or attend the Spring 2027 commencement ceremony. If you are graduating in Fall 2026 and would like to attend the Spring 2026 ceremony, please RSVP by April 15 so that we can confirm your attendance and add you to the ceremony program.
If you are graduating in Fall 2026 and would like to attend the Spring 2027 commencement ceremony instead, just ignore the 2026 commencement invitation and you will automatically be invited to next year's ceremony.
Yes. The deadline is April 21.
There is no limit on the number of guests who may attend Commencement. Tickets are not required.
When you have completed (including current registration) 75% or more of the credits applicable toward your degree, you will be automatically scheduled to graduate. You can verify your expected graduation term through your APAS report.

Students who meet a specific GPA or Honors Program threshold may receive special recognition. If, after all grades are posted, you have a minimum GPA of 3.75, you'll receive the "distinction" recognition. If your GPA is 3.9 or higher, you'll receive "high distinction" recognition.
Your diploma will be mailed to you 6-8 weeks after graduation. It is up to you to make sure your diploma is mailed to the correct address. Your diploma will be mailed to the diploma address that appears in MyU: My Info. Find more information about your diploma at One Stop.
