Every completed application is reviewed by the Carlson School Scholarship Committee to ensure a holistic and thorough process. In most cases, preference will be given to students who are not already receiving an award for the upcoming academic year.
Primary review factors include contributions to the Carlson School of Management and overall community engagement, academic merits, and personal narrative. For some awards, factors may include financial need, year of study, and/or major.

The Learning Abroad Center (LAC) awards both need and merit-based scholarships to assist students in easing the financial burden of studying abroad. Please visit the Learning Abroad Center (LAC) website for more information regarding the scholarship application process and program information. In many cases, you do not need to have applied for your study abroad program to be eligible to apply for study abroad scholarships.
The Scholarships At A Glance (PDF) Chart lets you quickly determine eligibility, award amounts, and deadlines for some of the most promising scholarships.
These scholarships are awarded entirely on the quality of the application essay. Financial need, program duration, and academic merit are not taken into consideration for the Study Abroad and the Diversity scholarships.
Additionally, the LAC offers a number of workshops for students to learn more about the variety of scholarship and financial aid options available to them. Find more info and upcoming sessions: umabroad.umn.edu/students/finances
The Carlson School of Management Undergraduate Program offers emergency tuition-related scholarship funding* to current students meeting satisfactory academic progress who would otherwise be unable to continue making progress towards graduation without additional financial support. Any information shared in the request will remain confidential and will only be read by committee members, which include professional staff members on the Diversity, Inclusion, and Enrollment team within the Undergraduate Program.
In order to be considered, students must be actively enrolled for the current semester at the time of request - we are unable to review requests for future semesters.
*Students with financial need that is not directly reflected on their student account are encouraged to pursue other sources of funding. Please see a list of additional resources below:
