I-Core Registration

A two-semester sequence of eight fundamental business courses, taken as a cohort on a block schedule.

Registering for I-Core

1.     Select one of the Maroon or Gold I-Core sections from the table below.

2.     During your registration time, please follow this how-to guide on One Stop to add the I-Core classes to your shopping cart in MyU.

a.     Enter the five-digit class number corresponding to each I-Core course of your preferred/available section to add the classes to your shopping cart.

b.     IMPORTANT: you must add each of the four Maroon or Gold I-Core classes from the same section to your shopping cart before you finish enrolling.

3.     Once all your Maroon or Gold I-Core classes are in your shopping cart, then proceed to steps 6 and 7 in the how-to guide to finish enrolling.

4.     If you see the green checkmarks, you successfully enrolled in I-Core.  If you see a red X for your I-Core classes, double check to make sure you have the same section for each of the Maroon or Gold I-Core classes.

5.     If you want to register for another class afterwards for a full schedule, then follow the same instructions above (the five-digit class number can be found in Schedule Builder, or you can search in MyU).

If your preferred section is closed, register for an open section, and then add your name to the waitlist for your preferred section; the waitlist is found below the table.

How do I enroll in the Impact Core (I-Core)?

First, determine which I-Core block, Maroon or Gold, you would like to take. Then, you must select one of the five sections in that block. Once you choose a section below, enroll in all four class numbers under that section. Classes in each block are set up as corequisites and you must register for all four classes at the same time.

When do I enroll in I-Core?

Prior to enrolling in an I-Core block, students must complete BA 2051 Modeling Business Scenarios in Excel, BA 2551 Business Statistics in R, ECON 1165 Business Economics, and ACCT 2051 Financial Reporting.

What is the difference between the Maroon and Gold blocks?

The Impact Core is a set of eight courses, taken in two consecutive semesters of four courses each in a block schedule: Maroon or Gold.

The Maroon block consists of MKTG 3001, IDSC 3001, ACCT 3001, and BA 3001.

The Gold block contains FINA 3001, MGMT 3004, SCO 3001, and HRIR 3021.

Students can take either block first and can start the sequence in the Fall or Spring.

Can I mix and match the sections from the cohorts?

No. I-Core is meant to be completed as a cohort and students may not mix and match courses from different blocks or sections. You must choose one of the sections, and you will not be able to register for classes under other sections or from the other block.

I have a unique situation where I do not need to take all of the classes in a given block. What should I do?

Please enroll in the full block (Maroon or Gold) of I-Core courses first. Then, fill out this special request form to have your enrollment reviewed and, if appropriate, adjusted to accommodate your situation. If you have any questions, please contact your academic advisor.

How do I enroll in honors versions of these courses?

Please enroll in a full block (Maroon or Gold) of I-Core courses first. Then, fill out this special request form to have your enrollment reviewed and, if appropriate, adjusted to accommodate your enrollment in honors sections. If you have any questions, please contact your academic advisor.

Sections (Fall 2024)

Please note: We recommend using Search for Classes rather than Schedule Builder when planning your I-Core semester. You must include ALL of the class numbers under a section to register correctly.

Is the I-Core section you prefer closed? Fill out a wait list form.

Please use the following form to add yourself to the waitlist of a closed I-Core section. Like other UMN courses, I-Core wait lists will operate on a first come, first served basis. You should register for an alternate section in the mean time.
