There are many staff members across the SSC interested in learning more and working with Generative Artificial Intelligence. As part of our efforts to stay abreast of new technologies that can support the SSC’s mission, vision, and goals, it was decided we should put a group together to learn more about what options are out there, which would be a good fit for the SSC, and then assist with putting together use cases for prioritization. Although Generative AI is the buzzword of the year, this group will not solely focus on GenAI, rather that will just be one of the technologies discussed.

To help the SSC learn more about emerging technologies and how they can help improve the way we work! This is also considered a professional development opportunity so staff who join the group will be required to present to the group with a large or small topic at least once a year.
The goal here is to have a group of 3-5 individuals who will be designated as leads and will “own” the agenda, ensure we have topics/presenters, and help to facilitate the meetings. The group itself will be open to staff at all levels. Meetings will be scheduled once a month, some sessions will be longer than others depending on a number of factors (topics, availability of staff, etc.) There will still be a group sponsor, for the first year it will be Nicki Trinka, Assistant Director of Technology, future years it will be other leads from Technology, Automation, Analytics.
The first meeting will cover the goals and mission of the group, as well as to ask for volunteers to act as the leads of the group. If we get more than 5 volunteers we will ask for a quick anonymous vote to make the final selections.
Participants in the group will commit to participating in the group for a year. Participants will also commit to presenting to the group at least once in their year.
One of the leads will be responsible for note taking to capture high level information and action items (a template will be provided). This responsibility may need to rotate so no one lead is always on the hook.
