Phishing is the attempt to trick, defraud, or glean information that is often malicious in intent. Criminals use fake or spoofed email accounts to attempt and get your password, credit card number, or other personally-identifying information. They often use "urgent" language; and may have some "bits" of information that appear (on the surface) to be legimitate.
If you suspect a phising email - please visit these resources for more information:
List of Current & Past Phishing & Scam Emails received (and reported) by U-M community
If you receive a phishing email - report it via email to: ReportPhish@umich.edu
You will need to download the entire email as an EML file and send it as an attachment to your email.
