I have tried to build this course in such a way that all students can get an A. I want you all to be great interviewers! The simple answer on how to do achieve this is to focus on the learning objectives for the course. These will help you use your time efficiently. I recognize that many students have not fully developed good study skills. They may not be sure how to use their time wisely. As such I make the following recommendations:
Plan to spend 2.5 hours a week outside of class reading and working on assignments for this class. Schedule those hours in two blocks so that you prepare for each class. Ideally they will be the day of class. Write them down in your schedule. Stay organized white oval 2 excellence
Read the Learning Objectives for the next class before you start to read the text.. This will help focus your attention on what is important to grasp. Use the last Exit form question to help you think about what you need to learn from the text and what questions you have.
Read the assigned readings, focusing on the objectives. Try rephrasing what is being addressed in each paragraph. Make sure to read BEFORE class and complete the Reading Assessments.
During class, stay focused on lectures by trying to restate in your mind what is being said. Engage with your peers.
At the end of class, take 5 minutes to really think about what you learned from the class that day as you complete your exit form. Then review the Major Concepts Link.
Use the time in groups to teach each other about the terms. Teaching others is a great way to solidify knowledge.
Remember that learning is a process. It involves reading about terms, learning how to use the terms correctly, applying them, practicing them, and exploring muddy areas that can be confusing
