Exam is posted on May 17 page. Wishing you all the best of luck in your futures!
Students will choose from either the video prepared for Class 18 or the one for Class 21 to transcribe, analyze, and critique for their project. Students do NOT need to do both.
Week 12 Class 24 Students should hand in the transcription and analysis of the interview as well as a 1-2 page critique of the interview.
Transcript and Analysis portion of project/ 100 pts.
Students will type out the interview verbatim (Both the responses of the interviewee as well as the questions and responses of the interviewer).
Non-verbal listening responses (both positive and negative should be noted in the column indicated. Only the interviewer responses will need to be analyzed).
Students must use the format provided to complete the transcript. (Egg 10format) Transcripts that do not utilize this format will not be accepted and students will receive a grade of 0 for the transcript portion of the interview project. This is intended not to be punitive but rather helpful to students to address all necessary parts. The format is provided at this LINK. It is important that students make a copy of the format document and save it their own Google Drive.
The table provided should be completed as follows:
Column1 Indicate if it is you (ER) speaking or the interviewee (EE) speaking as well as number the response. This both you and I can refer to specific lines later
Column 2 Write out verbatim what was said. You do not need to put in every uhm (you can just indicate that there were multiples ums)
Column 3 Indicate if what you said was a verbal listening response, if it was then put the type in that box. If not, put N/A. If part of what you said was a listening response and part was not, then use separate lines for each part.
Column 4 Indicate question and probe type. If it is primary put primary; if it is a probe indicate the specific type of probe. If it is not a question put N/A
Column 5 Indicate the openness of the question. Please be specific. If it is highly closed/bipolar put HC/BP not just HC. All bipolar traps should be listed as HC/BP not as what was intended.
Column 6 Indicate if there was a pitfall used by noting the type. If there was no pitfall/language problem mark as N/A.
Column 7 Indicate whether the response or part of response does not fit any of the preceding types and is an opinion stated, advice given, or a disclosure.
Column 8 Indicate any non-verbal attending behaviors that you exhibited. Again, it is not necessary to note every headnod just note in general.
Column 9 Indicate what part of the interview the response is from (i.e., opening, body, closing). For openings and closings, list features (i.e., stating purpose, expressing appreciation, etc).
After you have added a response you made, please merge cells 2-7 for the next line. This will help so the table will not need to be excessively long. You can do this by clicking Format, Table, and then merge cells. If added lines are needed click Format, Table, add lines below. Students should familiarize themselves with the Transcript and Analysis Rubric below before completing the transcript. Students will create a folder in Box (LINK to directions) where they will submit their video, transcript and analysis, and critique.
